when and where

When and where will the show take place?

  • The show will take place on Monday the 15th and Tuesday the 16th of February. This is over the spring mid-term break for most schools.
  • The shows will be evening performances this year with the starting time likely to be 7pm. Dancers will have a full rehearsal on-stage before the evening show so they will have to be in the theatre earlier in the day - exact times for each class will be confirmed closer to the time.
    • The older students will arrive the earliest for the on-stage rehearsal. The younger students will be the last to arrive so that do not have to spend too long at the theatre.
    • All students must remain backstage for the entirety of the show. They cannot be collected at the interval.
  • The show will take place in The Helix theatre on the DCU campus.
how

How will my child prepare?

  • Students have been learning their dances in their usual weekly ballet classes. Attendance at all classes between now and the show is paramount.
  • We will also have 4-5 additional rehearsal days in the lead up to the show (depending on their class).
    • Rehearsal days will be on Sundays: 17th, 24th, 31st of January, 7th and 14th of February
    • Times for each group to be confirmed
    • Extra rehearsals will likely be in the Bayside Community Centre.
    • Monday performers will have their Sunday rehearsals slightly earlier than Tuesday performers, and seniors will have their rehearsals later in the day.
What

What is the cost of participating in the show?

  • There is a €60-€70 charge for each student participating in the show.
    • €40-€50 of this goes toward the additional rehearsals (depending on their class and the amount of rehearsals they have) and €20 goes toward costume rental.
    • All of our costumes are rented out to students and must be returned after the show. This is done to keep costs down for parents and to ensure minimal waste to the environment.
  • Ticket sales will be managed directly by The Helix theatre. Booking links will be sent out to each performer.
  • There will be an option to purchase a recording of the performance after show.
